About
The College Music Society (CMS) invites proposals for participation in its 2027 International Conference, to be held in Reykjavík, Iceland, from June 6-12, 2027. The conference will take place at the Listaháskóli Íslands (Iceland Academy of the Arts). The theme for this year is 'Engaging Creative Pathways: Dialogues, Connections, and Crossings in Music,' encouraging submissions that highlight current practices, innovations, and contributions in various musical areas. The program committee welcomes proposals from independent musicians, scholars, students, and professionals across all disciplines and career paths within music. Submissions can cover topics such as administration, career issues, composition, cultural inclusion, ethnomusicology, music business/industry, music education/teacher training, music in general studies, music theory, musicology, community engagement, performance, and pedagogy. The conference also encourages proposals on topics not historically represented in academic conferences, including jazz, avant-garde, improvisatory performers, multi-medium or cross-disciplinary work, non-classical composition styles, and public-facing scholarship. The deadline for all proposals is May 13, 2026, at 11:59 pm Mountain Time.
