About
The National Gallery of Iceland is offering the first artist residency within CUSP, a Creative Europe-funded program focused on the preservation of complex media art. This four-week residency is open to artists based outside Iceland who work with emerging technologies such as generative AI, software-based practices, sound, blockchain, custom sensors, and hybrid digital media. The program combines artistic research with conservation expertise, placing artists in contact with professionals who focus on the long-term survival of their work. The residency provides accommodation, travel, and subsistence support, an artist fee, and the opportunity to present their practice through a public masterclass in early 2027. The Vasulka Kitchen, named after electronic and video art pioneers Steina and Woody Vasulka, houses an archive central to the history of media art.
