About
The Spitsbergen Artists Residency is an open-call residency located in Svalbard, aiming to connect artists from various countries, disciplines, and media with the reality of the high Arctic. The program focuses on increasing awareness of climate change, which is particularly evident in Svalbard. The residency is situated in Nybyen, Longyearbyen, in a building originally used as a miners' store. Artists are encouraged to submit proposals related to the polar regions and contribute to the local community through exhibitions, workshops, or lectures. The residency provides private rooms, a common area with a fully equipped kitchen, shared bathrooms, laundry facilities, bed linen, towels, and internet access. The price for the residency in 2026 is 20,400 NOK per month, with a shared room costing 26,400 NOK per month. A minimum stay of two weeks is required, though exceptions can be made with an additional charge.
