About
The SÍM Residency in Reykjavík, Iceland, is an international, nonprofit residency program for contemporary artists and cultural practitioners, run by SÍM – The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists. It is one of the Nordic region's most established artist residency programs, welcoming around 200 artists and cultural practitioners annually. The residency offers a sustainable working and living environment that fosters reflection, experimentation, and creative collaboration, with access to private and shared studios and opportunities for public presentations. Artists can apply for stays of one to three months. While the residency provides accommodation and studio facilities, artists are required to pay a program fee of 50,000 ISK and an accommodation fee starting at 140,000 ISK, and are responsible for their own travel, insurance, and living expenses. SÍM Residency does not offer scholarships or stipends, and encourages artists to seek external funding.
