About
The OSTRALE Biennale is hosting its 16th international exhibition of contemporary art, O27, from June 4 to October 3, 2027, at various venues in Dresden and in public spaces. Artists are invited to apply with artworks related to the theme 'Article 5: Freedom of Opinion, Art, and Science', which focuses on the human condition in today's world, oscillating between good and evil, violence and tolerance. The biennale aims to counter destructive dynamics with freedom and lived diversity through artistic expression. All forms of contemporary visual art are accepted, including drawing, painting, graphics, photography, sculpture, installation, performance, digital and video art, and sound installations. The application fee is 20 EUR (10 EUR for students). All costs for art transport, insurance, catalogue, and exhibition organization are covered by the organizer. Each participating artist or artist group will receive a one-time exhibition fee of 300 EUR. Applications are accepted online from April 15 to May 31, 2026. The jury includes the O27 curators, Juliane Vowinckel M.A., and Detlef Schweiger.
