About
The Institute for Public Architecture (IPA) announces an open call for its 2026 Independent Project Residency Program, offering limited spots for Summer and Fall. This program is one of the few architecture-focused residencies in the United States and the only overnight arts program on Governors Island. It invites practitioners from various disciplines, particularly those whose work engages with the public realm, to participate in an 11-week live-in residency at the Block House. The program encourages Fellows to collaborate across the Island and is well-suited for individuals seeking time and space to develop design-build, public-facing, or applied research proposals, especially those on sabbatical or with funded projects. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
