- Applicants must identify as African American, be a working visual artist (age 18 and older), reside in Franklin County for at least one year prior to application, and agree to remain a resident of central Ohio for one year after the award date. Collaborative applications are not accepted. Artists must produce work in visual arts (painting, 3D and 2D, photography, wood carving, sculpture and fiber – with a focus on found objects, natural and synthetic materials; video, film and digital installations are not eligible) deeply rooted in storytelling, cultural traditions and heritage, and the centrality of African American women. Applicants must not be enrolled as degree-seeking undergraduate students.

The Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC), in partnership with the Columbus Museum of Art (CMA), offers the 2027 Aminah Robinson Fellowship. This 90-day artist fellowship provides an unrestricted $15,000 award and the honor of working in Aminah Robinson’s home studio. The fellowship is designed to give artists time and monetary support to focus on art making. Recipients are expected to participate in one community outreach opportunity, such as a workshop, demonstration, or lecture, as directed by the Columbus Museum of Art. Applicants must be African American visual artists, aged 18 or older, residing in Franklin County, Ohio, for at least one year prior to applying, and must remain residents for one year after the award date. The fellowship focuses on visual arts, excluding video, film, and digital installations, with an emphasis on storytelling, cultural traditions, and the experiences of African American women. Collaborative applications are not accepted, and applicants must not be degree-seeking undergraduate students.
