About
The CAC Individual Artist Fellowships, administered by Kala Art Institute for Region 3 (The Bay Area), uplift and celebrate California artists across all disciplines and traditions. This grant program identifies three career tiers: Legacy Artist Fellows ($50,000), Established Artist Fellows ($10,000), and Emerging Artist Fellows ($5,000). Legacy artists have a significant body of work and social impact, Established artists consistently make their work public, and Emerging artists are in the beginning stages of public engagement. All individuals may submit an application in one career tier only, and awards will be funded at the full dollar amount. Awarded grantees must comply with grant agreement requirements, including completing contract documents, a W-9 form, maintaining communication, participating in convenings, and submitting a final report. Applications must be submitted through Slideroom by the deadline and include a narrative, work samples (6-10 depending on tier), and support materials like a resume/CV. The program is presented in partnership with the California Arts Council.
