- Eligibility
- All Abilympics competitors must have a disability (mental or physical) to participate. Competitors must be able to prove their need for special support in the registration by submitting a medical certificate. Competitors must be at least 15 years old or have completed compulsory schooling. All countries/regions participating in the Abilympics must be members of the International Abilympic Federation (IAF). Each country’s IAF member organisation selects the participants.

About
The Abilympics Helsinki 2027 will host a "Painting and Waste Reuse" competition for individuals with special needs. This creative skill focuses on transforming waste materials into functional and/or aesthetic objects. Competitors will design and produce original creations using discarded items, guided by a specific theme or concept, involving imaginative repurposing, artistic painting, and thoughtful composition. The competition will take place at Messukeskus Helsinki from May 10 to 13, 2027. The registration fee is 480 € per participant, covering competition entry, meals, an excursion, ceremonies, and airport transportation. Participants must have a disability, be at least 15 years old, and provide a medical certificate. Only IAF member organizations can select and register participants from their respective countries/regions. Registration opens in September 2026 and closes in November 2026.
