About
The Tombolo Artist Residency offers emerging artists an opportunity to collaborate with Tombolo, a company that designs shirts based on artists' artwork. The residency culminates in a solo exhibition hosted in New York City, where Tombolo takes 0% commission on sales. Throughout the residency, unique Tombolo pieces will be created from the artist's work, and the artist will receive royalty payments for each item sold. Additionally, a stipend and marketing exposure through Tombolo's channels are provided, along with mentorship from Tombolo's founders. This program is described as a "love letter to emerging artists everywhere," aiming to foster wonderful collaborations. Previous artists in residence include Julian MacMillan (2025-2026), Mary Ball (2024), Jiannan Wu (2023), and Alexis Zambrano (2022). Applicants are required to fill out an application form and provide examples of their previous work. The application deadline for the 2026-2027 residency is May 4, 2026.
