About
The XXXIII Contemporary Ceramics Competition "Mediterraneo" promotes artistic expression in ceramics, characterized by innovation and contemporary interpretation. The competition is open to individual artists and artist collectives free of charge. The exhibition of selected works will take place from July 4 to October 18, 2026, in Grottaglie, Italy. The first prize, "Mediterraneo," awards 5,000 Euros and inclusion in the contemporary ceramics department of the Ceramic Museum. The second prize, "Einzelausstellung," awards 2,000 Euros, free exhibition space, organizational support for a solo exhibition in the subsequent edition, and publication in the catalog. The third prize, "Künstlerresidenz," is reserved for artists under 35 and includes 1,000 Euros, accommodation, meals, materials, firing costs, a mentor, and a workspace for 2-3 weeks. The fourth prize, "Großformatiges Werk," awards 10,000 Euros for a sculptural or installation piece for public space. The application deadline is May 5, 2026.
