About
The Visual Arts Thematic - Future Figurations Residency at Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity invites artists to explore speculative futures, science-fiction, myth-making, and world-building, focusing on embodied futurity as an anti-oppressive and restorative force. The program encourages decolonizing ideas of the body and exploring new possibilities of selfhood and agency. This structured residency offers faculty-led activity and mentorship, supporting project-based studio practice with individual studios and access to shared production facilities. Participants will engage in cross-disciplinary learning and exchange, with faculty studio visits, lectures, and workshops fostering a community of learning. All arts participants receive a scholarship covering 100% of tuition and 25% of meal plan and accommodation costs, while Canadian Indigenous applicants receive full coverage for tuition, meal plan, and accommodation.
