Kinship Studio in Cumberland, Maryland, offers Summer Matched-Funds Residencies for photographers, writers, and creative makers of all skill levels. These residencies are grant-subsidized, with 50% of residency and studio costs covered by grants and donations, and the remaining 50% by the artist. The program provides access to facilities including darkrooms, a digital print lab, a matting and framing studio, an outdoor alternative process studio, a mixed-media collage and book studio, and a writers' studio. Work-exchange and full scholarships are available for those with additional financial need. Applications are non-competitive and filled on a first-come, first-served basis, requiring a brief application and phone interview. The residency includes access to a studio and a 30-minute studio orientation, along with a private bedroom and shared living spaces.
