About
The Water & Rock Nature residency on Thassos Island, Greece, is a 3-week program for artists, writers, and musicians deeply inspired by nature. The residency provides space for creative practice and learning about the natural environment, with a focus on plein air art. Participants will enjoy weekly guided plein air art days, group creative brainstorms, regular hikes, and art in the outdoors. The program encourages artists to bring awareness to environmental and social issues through their work. Accommodation is in a traditional Greek house in a mountain village, offering quiet working spaces and a setting surrounded by forest and ancient civilizations. The host, Leah Heming, provides tailored support, feedback, and guidance on the island's history, fauna, and flora. While there is no funding provided by the residency, artists are welcome to seek external funding.
