Artists may submit a maximum of 2 original artworks, but only one artwork per artist will appear in the final exhibition. Artworks must be new, original, not previously exhibited, and themed on Moya Cannon's poem 'Carrying the Songs'.

About
The Embassy of Ireland, The Netherlands, in collaboration with Hamilton Gallery Sligo and Pulchri Studio, The Hague, invites submissions for 'Carrying the Songs', an exhibition of new paintings. This open call is for visual artists residing on the island of Ireland or in The Netherlands. The exhibition is themed on Moya Cannon's poem 'Carrying the Songs', which meditates on music and song as essential possessions for those displaced from their homes. The exhibition will feature 200 artworks selected from submitted entries, fostering a significant cultural interchange between the artistic communities of The Netherlands and Ireland. All artworks must be unframed, 30cm x 30cm, with a maximum depth of 2cm, and made on canvas or board. Artists can submit up to two original artworks, but only one will be selected for the final exhibition. The exhibition will take place at Pulchri Studio, The Hague, from July 4th to July 26th, 2026. The deadline for online submissions is May 1st, 2026. Selection notifications will be sent by May 8th, 2026. Selected artworks from Irish resident artists must be delivered to Hamilton Gallery by May 29th, 2026, and Dutch resident artists to Pulchri Studio by June 19th, 2026. Submission is free, but artists will be requested to cover the cost of returning unsold artworks if they cannot be collected.
