About
The Banff International Curatorial Institute presents "Curating While Black," a hybrid residency and symposia for Black curators. The program begins with one week online, followed by two weeks in-person at Banff Centre. It supports curators in developing individual research projects through one-on-one feedback, faculty talks, peer gatherings, and dedicated writing studios. The program is intended for Black curators with professional experience in visual arts, material culture, performance, film and video, and public programming, including those with institutional affiliations or independent practices. Scholarships are available, covering tuition and a portion of accommodation and meal costs, with full coverage for Canadian Indigenous applicants. A food stipend is also provided.
