About
Leveld Kunstnartun is an artist residency in Ål in Hallingdal, Norway, established in 2014. It aims to promote interdisciplinary practices and the production of high-quality art by providing strong working conditions for Norwegian and international artists. The residency offers excellent working facilities, including two bright studios, a writing room, a printmaking workshop, and two fully equipped residences with fiber internet and a car. At any given time, at least three artists are in residence, with stays of 1, 2, or 3 months. Selected artists receive a work stipend of NOK 6,000 per month and a travel stipend of NOK 4,000. Housing and studio are free, but artists must cover living and material expenses. Applications for the 2027 program are now open, with a deadline of May 20, 2026. Guest artists are selected by juries appointed by the Norwegian Association of Young Artists, the Norwegian Authors’ Union, and the Norwegian Society of Composers. The residency is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Buskerud County Council, and Ål Municipality.
