About
The Studio Museum in Harlem's Artist-in-Residence program supports visual artists of African and Afro-Latinx descent. This eleven-month residency, which will run for six months in its inaugural 2026 year, provides three local, national, or international artists with institutional guidance, professional development, research support, and studio space. Each artist receives 24/7 access to a private studio and a shared lounge, along with a $50,000 stipend paid biweekly. The program culminates in an exhibition and publication featuring artwork created during the residency. Applicants must be 18 years or older, and the program is not open to students or artists currently in other residency or fellowship programs. International artists are responsible for securing their own visas.
