## Description

Artica Svalbard, in collaboration with the Norwegian Non-Fiction Authors and Translators Association (NFFO), invites NFFO members to apply for a writing residency in Longyearbyen for 2027. This opportunity is for authors working on non-fiction projects related to the Arctic or high north, covering topics such as landscapes, ecosystems, climate change, geopolitics, cultural heritage, migration, and resource use. Translators of non-fiction from Icelandic, Greenlandic, Danish, Sami, Swedish, or Gaelic are also encouraged to apply. The residency offers a period of four weeks to three months in Svalbard, providing a workspace in a shared studio and workshop, free travel, and accommodation. Residents will also have access to a library and local resources, with opportunities for excursions outside Longyearbyen. Participants are expected to contribute to the program, for example, through a lecture or presentation. The application deadline for stays in 2027 is June 1, 2026.
